The first floating museum on board a ship in the Mediterranean will set sail at the end of March and dock at 15 countries and 20 host cities until 2026, as reported on Thursday in Paris by the "Art Explora" foundation, responsible for the project. The ship, measuring 47 meters in length and 18 meters in width, capable of accommodating 2,000 visitors daily, will depart from Malta at the end of March to reach Venice in April, before officially opening in Marseille, according to the foundation.
The ship will embark on a cultural journey titled "Art Explora Festival," subsequently heading to Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Tunisia, and Algeria, as per the program displayed at the maritime museum, which also includes stops in Albania, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Lebanon, and Egypt until 2026. At each port, the festival will take place on board the ship, allowing visitors to view an immersive exhibition dedicated to female figures from Mediterranean civilizations, through collections from the Louvre Museum.
José personally financed the construction of the ship, which cost 35 million euros, while his foundation funds the cultural, educational content, and travel from port to port, at a cost of approximately 500,000 euros for each station.
