In the Helwan area on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt, surveillance cameras captured a woman carrying bottles of flammable materials that she threw onto a vehicle, then set it on fire before fleeing the scene. The incident began when residents on a known street in the center of Helwan were startled by the flames. They quickly rushed to extinguish the fire upon realizing that it would engulf the nearby parked cars, especially since the "parking attendant" in the area confirmed that the car belonged to a well-known businessman who owns shops in the vicinity.
Subsequently, a police report was filed regarding the incident. Although witnesses stated they were caught off guard by the fire, security forces arrived at the scene and discovered that the car belonged to a businessman and had been completely charred while parked under his house. When questioned, the car owner indicated that he did not suspect anyone of causing the incident and assumed that the fire could have been due to an electrical short circuit in the vehicle.
However, upon reviewing the surveillance footage from the area, it was revealed that a woman was responsible for starting the fire. After this information was presented to the public prosecution, a decision was made to identify, apprehend, and bring her in. Once the woman was arrested, it became evident that she was the wife of the shop owner, and she had ignited the fire out of revenge.
The prosecution listened to her statements, in which she claimed to have been married to the car owner for nearly twenty years. After standing by his side, he left her, abandoned their children, and recently married a younger woman. Consumed by jealousy and a desire for revenge, she found no other way to express her anger and jealousy than by burning the car.
The prosecution decided to detain the accused for four days pending further investigation and summoned the car owner to hear his account of the incident.
