Rabbi Elimelech Waisman, who serves as the head of the Rabbinical Court in Ashdod, was killed in a shooting attack in Jerusalem on Thursday. Rabbi Waisman was 73 years old and was one of the veteran judges in the judicial system of the Israeli occupation. He was on his way to the court in Ashdod when the incident occurred.
The Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, mourned the death of Rabbi Elimelech Waisman, stating that he was a "wise and virtuous student, and even after his retirement, he insisted on continuing to work."
The Minister of Religious Affairs in the Israeli occupation, Michael Malkieli, confirmed that one of the casualties in the attack this morning in Jerusalem was a rabbinical judge at the Rabbinical Court in Ashdod. The minister praised the deceased judge, saying he was "one of the oldest and most important judges in the court system in Israel, having served the people of Israel for many years with dedication."
Rabbi Yosef Rosenfeld, who prayed alongside Rabbi Elimelech Waisman for many years, noted that the deceased rabbi had previously battled cancer and recovered from it.
