Fifteen schools in the city of Bengaluru, India, canceled classes today, Friday, following emails threatening the presence of bombs. The buildings were evacuated while police and bomb disposal teams initiated search efforts. Bengaluru is a technology hub, often referred to as the "Silicon Valley of India," and is home to multinational companies such as Amazon and Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet. P. Dayananda, the city's chief police officer, stated that the emails appear to be false. Dayananda told Reuters, "Last year, similar false emails were sent, and apparently, these (new emails) are also false." He added that Bengaluru did not reach the point of closing all schools. He remarked, "We have sent bomb disposal teams to all the schools." Six schools in Bengaluru received similar threats in April 2022.
