European Observatory: Fighting Corruption Will Remain a Priority to Help the Lebanese

The European Observatory for Integrity in Lebanon expressed its regret over the recent state of affairs in Lebanon, noting that many files remain stalled in the drawers of the Lebanese Parliament. Among these are the file concerning the Beirut port explosion and the file on recovering funds transferred abroad. It was surprising to see a legislative session convened to pass laws while other issues related to Lebanese deposits and banks remain forgotten. The observatory added, "Does anyone in Lebanon remember that Riad Salameh was wanted and had two international arrest warrants issued against him? What about the collapse and forensic audit?" It also emphasized that fighting corruption will remain a priority to help the Lebanese regain their rights.
