The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces announced that "as a result of the field and intelligence efforts being made by the specialized units in the Internal Security Forces to uncover those involved in drug trafficking and promotion, the Information Branch managed to identify one of the dealers active in the Al-Mashrafiyah area - Southern Suburb, known as M. M. (born in 1996, Lebanese), against whom an arrest warrant for drug trafficking was issued." It noted that "on 31-10-2023, after careful surveillance and monitoring, one of the branch’s patrols was able to catch him in the act in the mentioned area while he was promoting drugs on a motorcycle, which was seized."
The statement clarified that "during the arrest operation, he brandished a military pistol at the patrol officers attempting to shoot at them, but they managed to subdue him, strip him of his weapon, and seized it along with six rounds of ammunition." The directorate mentioned that "during the search of him and the motorcycle, quantities of cocaine, cocaine base, hashish, and a pack of cigarette rolling papers were confiscated. During the investigation, he confessed to the charges attributed to him regarding drug promotion to a large number of clients in Al-Mashrafiyah," confirming that "the arrested individual, along with the confiscated items, was handed over to the relevant authorities, in accordance with the directives of the competent judiciary."
