The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced that "as part of the ongoing monitoring by the Internal Security Forces to reduce crimes in various Lebanese regions and to pursue and arrest those involved, information was received by the Southern Investigation Division regarding two individuals in a white car promoting counterfeit currency in the city of Marjeyoun."
It added in a statement: "As a result, and following extensive investigations and inquiries, this division was able to identify the vehicle's license plate, a Kia, and locate it in the area of Khardali. A patrol pursued it, managed to intercept it, and arrested everyone on board, namely: H.J. (born in 1995, Lebanese) and F.A.R. (born in 2005, Syrian). It was found that they were under the influence of narcotics. During the search of both the individuals and the vehicle, an amount of $2,400 in counterfeit currency was seized. Upon questioning, they admitted to attempting to circulate the counterfeit money in the area. Investigations are underway, and legal action will be taken against them in accordance with judicial instructions."
