The head of the "Lebanese Forces" party, Samir Jaja, commented on the statement made by Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi yesterday regarding the crime in Ain Ebel, saying: "Let the esteemed minister, whom we love and respect, tell us and everyone else on what basis he assumed that the crime has no political or partisan backgrounds? On the other hand, how does he explain the occurrence of an organized crime involving many people, between five and ten, as seen only in some videos, and using several vehicles in an area entirely controlled by Hezbollah from both security and military perspectives?" He noted in a statement that they "are awaiting clarifications from the esteemed Minister of Interior."
In this context, the media office of the "Lebanese Forces" party pointed out that "Hezbollah's Secretary General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, tried yesterday to blame some media outlets for what happened in Kahaleh, which is a distortion and slander, as the media merely reports on events. What caused the Kahaleh incidents was a truck full of weapons and ammunition with armed individuals surrounding it, which led to a understandable reaction from the residents, and then all media rushed to cover the incident. This is the nature of free journalistic work unless Mr. Hassan wants to turn Lebanon into a second North Korea where there is neither media nor awareness, which is impossible in Lebanon."
It added in a statement: "If you want, Mr. Hassan, for the media to report beautiful things about you, then do beautiful deeds instead of continuing the crimes from Ain Ebel to Kahaleh and everything in between. The attempt to intimidate the media is rejected."
