In Video - Hilmi Bakar Laid to Rest

Today, Sunday, the funeral of the Egyptian composer Hilmi Bakar was held from Al-Salam Mosque in Nasr City, eastern Cairo. He passed away last Friday at the age of 86 after battling health issues, including dehydration, anemia, and kidney problems. He had been hospitalized due to a deterioration in his health condition.

His son, Hisham Hilmi Bakar, who traveled from America upon receiving the news, attended the funeral and insisted that it not take place without him. Several stars from the artistic community were also present, including the head of the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate, Mustafa Kamel, and musician Selim Sahab.

Hilmi Bakar passed away on Friday in a hospital in Sharqia. He was a prominent musician who produced over 1500 works and collaborated with many famous artists in Egypt and the Arab world. He often referred to himself as the guardian of song, especially since he presided over the listening committees of the Musicians Syndicate for 40 years, where he conducted exams for applicants seeking membership.

Bakar had faced numerous health crises recently, beginning in January of last year when he announced he was suffering a sudden health emergency that required him to enter intensive care due to issues such as fluid retention, kidney problems, elevated blood sugar levels, and heart issues.
