US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed today, Tuesday, that the United States will continue to work towards an immediate and sustainable ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip for a duration of 6 weeks. Blinken described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as "devastating," emphasizing that Washington is "providing additional aid to Gaza and continues to work relentlessly to achieve an immediate and sustainable ceasefire for 6 weeks as part of a prisoner exchange deal." In a statement congratulating Muslims on the month of Ramadan, Blinken added that the United States "will also continue to seek a two-state solution to ensure that Palestinians and Israelis share equal standards of freedom, dignity, security, and prosperity... and that peace is possible, necessary, and urgent."
