On Monday, Fadi Almana, the head of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Committee, received the Cypriot Ambassador to Lebanon, Maria Hajji Theodosiou. Almana praised "the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries." He briefed Theodosiou on the committee's work and the upcoming visit to the European Parliament in February, emphasizing the need to prioritize the issue of Syrian displaced persons and the challenges Lebanon faces in addressing this issue. For her part, Theodosiou confirmed "Cyprus's support for Lebanon and the ongoing coordination between the two countries, especially regarding illegal immigration boats." She expressed her desire to "coordinate a joint meeting between the parliamentary delegation to Brussels and Cypriot members in the European Parliament, in order to activate action plans between the two sides, as the issue concerns both countries equally."
