Avinor, the airport operator, announced today, Saturday, that the main airport in the Norwegian capital, Oslo, will be closed until at least 13:00 GMT due to stormy winds and heavy snowfall. Avinor stated on its website: "The heavy snow along with stormy winds and heavy rain has caused difficult conditions for aircraft and ground staff." It added that travelers must comply with the information they receive from airlines in Norway. A spokesperson for Avinor said that "the company will conduct an additional assessment by 13:00 GMT to determine if operations can be resumed." The Norwegian Meteorological Institute issued a yellow warning for strong winds until 15:00 GMT and another warning for snowfall until 16:00 GMT.
