Monaco lost 3-1 at home on Saturday against Stade Reims, who are fifth in the French Ligue 1 standings, missing the chance to reduce the gap with the top two teams. Monaco remains in third place with 33 points, seven points behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain and two points behind second-placed Nice.
Teddy Tsimba opened the scoring for the visitors after 35 minutes with a powerful shot from outside the box into the top corner. Wissam Ben Yedder equalized for Monaco four minutes into the second half with a close-range header, but Reims restored their lead in the 55th minute when Reda Khadra smoothly navigated through the defense before firing a strong shot into the net from a tight angle.
Reims scored the third goal through Azor Matusiwa in stoppage time. The top two teams will have the opportunity to extend their lead over Monaco, as Nice will face Stade Rennais later on Saturday, while Paris Saint-Germain will play against Lens on Sunday.
