An Israeli government report revealed that over a quarter of a million Israelis have left their residences since Hamas and other Palestinian factions launched the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation on October 7. The report indicated that authorities asked 164,000 Israelis to evacuate their homes, while an estimated 150,000 chose to flee from various areas in the north and south without receiving any official orders or recommendations, fearing potential bombardment from Hamas or Hezbollah.
The report also notes that thousands of fleeing Israelis have begun to return to the areas they left, particularly Sderot, but it is difficult to determine the exact number. Furthermore, it highlighted a decrease in the number of Israelis who left the north and south to stay in hotels after the "Al-Aqsa Flood," according to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth. The report points out that towns where residents are still in hotels without a solution include Yad Mordechai, Karmia, Mefalsim, Nir Am, and Alumim. It also mentioned that residents of settlements in the Gaza Envelope will be moved to new areas and kibbutzim, where they will be placed in temporary caravans.
