The Palestinian territories witnessed a comprehensive strike today, Monday, across all aspects of commercial, educational, and public transportation life in response to a call from national and Islamic forces, protesting against the Israeli war on Gaza and the American role in this war. The strike also included East Jerusalem.
According to media coverage: "There is a strike in the Jabal Mukaber neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem, in response to the call for a global strike demanding pressure to stop the war on Gaza." The commitment to the strike appeared to be widespread, with even coffee kiosks that usually remain open during strikes complying, along with both public and private schools, as well as universities and institutes.
The forces stated in a statement that this strike is "in rejection of the genocide being carried out by the occupation in partnership with the American administration and the continued destruction and killing of children, women, and civilians." They further added that the strike is also "in rejection of the American position as a partner in this aggression and the American veto in the Security Council that thwarted the resolution to stop the massacres and crimes against our people."
Some Arab and Western countries have seen calls from activists and unions to participate in today's strike.
