Washington Commends Army's Role in Kahlah Events

A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department praised the role of the Lebanese army following the Kahlah events in a statement to "Alhurra," noting, "It intervened and took decisive measures to prevent further escalation and to control smuggled materials, underscoring the critical role the army plays in maintaining security and stability in Lebanon." She described the incident involving the crash of a weapons truck belonging to Hezbollah in Kahlah, which resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to others, as "the latest in a series of events that demonstrate Hezbollah's prioritization of its own interests and those of its patron Iran over the safety and well-being of the Lebanese people." The spokesperson expressed concern regarding the incident, which "stemmed from Hezbollah's attempt to transport illegal weapons via trucks."
