Member of the "Democratic Gathering" bloc, MP Wael Abu Faour, expressed “our high appreciation for the efforts of the Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Najib Mikati in their endeavors to prevent the vacancy in the leadership of the Lebanese Army and appoint a new military council, to put an end to any uncertainty regarding the military institution and its unifying national role,” calling on all political forces to “respond to this necessary and essential endeavor.” Abu Faour's statement came during a party meeting held with the party branch directors in Southern Bekaa and with the Rashaya branch, attended by the Deputy Chief of Southern Bekaa, Aref Abu Mansour, Deputy Commissioner for Preparation and Guidance, Fares Fayyik, the Director of the Progressive branch in Rashaya, Imad Najji, and members of the administrative and general bodies, along with party members. The meeting also discussed organizational and party matters, in addition to "the repercussions of the Israeli aggression on the South, and how to support families displaced to the area from southern villages that are under fire and Israeli airstrikes."
