Five Bodies of Skiers Found in Switzerland, Search Ongoing for Sixth

Rescue teams in the Valais canton of southern Switzerland have discovered the bodies of five skiers near the Tête Blanche mountain, while the search for a sixth missing person is still underway, according to a police statement reported by Reuters yesterday. The police statement noted, "After reports of six skiers missing, three rescue team members and a police officer were sent to the Tête Blanche mountain hut at 7:30 AM on Sunday. By approximately 9:20 PM, the team arrived in the area and quickly found five of the missing skiers deceased." The police had stated on Sunday that the group had embarked on a skiing trip on the Zermatt-Arolla route, with the Tête Blanche area located midway between the resorts. They also mentioned that "the ages of the skiing group range from 21 to 58 years." It was highlighted that "various techniques were used to locate the skiers, and there was communication from one group member with the rescue team at 5:15 PM on Saturday, which allowed the team to pinpoint their location in the Tête Blanche area."
