Netanyahu Thanks Newly Elected Argentine President for His Intention to Move Embassy to Jerusalem

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that "the Prime Minister spoke today, Monday, with newly elected Argentine President Javier Milei and thanked him for his intention to move his country's embassy to Jerusalem." The statement added that "the Prime Minister thanked the elected president for his intention to move the Argentine embassy to Jerusalem and invited him to visit Israel." Netanyahu congratulated Milei on "his election victory and thanked him for his support for Israel in the war with Hamas."

Milei's team refrained from commenting on the matter today, although the liberal economist had stated during his election campaign last month that he intended to move his country's embassy to Jerusalem. A few countries have embassies in Jerusalem, while most others maintain diplomatic representation in Tel Aviv. Milei, who claims he intends to convert to Judaism, visited the grave of a prominent Jewish rabbi during a recent trip to the United States. He has repeatedly stated that he will take a strongly pro-Israel stance in foreign policy.
