Seizure of 65 kg of Narcotic Pills in Baghdad

Iraqi security authorities reported today, Friday, the seizure of approximately 65 kg of narcotic pills in the capital, Baghdad. The General Directorate for Drug Control stated in a press release that "a specialized team was formed from the Karakh Drug Control Directorate in the capital, carrying out a security operation that resulted in the seizure of 65 kg of Captagon narcotic pills in Baghdad province." The Ministry of Interior had previously announced the issuance of sentences against more than 7,000 individuals convicted of crimes related to drug trafficking, use, and promotion in 2023, with sentences ranging from life imprisonment to death and other penalties.
