The Director-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, warned on Monday that "without additional funding, we will be in an unknown area with serious implications for international peace and security." Lazzarini stated this before the United Nations General Assembly, which consists of 193 members, saying, "We are operating at a minimum." The United States, the largest donor to the UN agency, along with other countries, has halted funding after Israel accused 12 UNRWA employees of being involved in the attack on October 7th carried out by Hamas militants.
