Australia and Uzbekistan Nominated to Host Women's Asian Cup

The Asian Football Confederation announced today, following a meeting in Tashkent, that it has recommended granting Australia and Uzbekistan the hosting rights for the Women's Asian Cup for the 2026 and 2029 editions, respectively. The Uzbekistan Football Association, which previously hosted youth competitions at the continental level, was the only candidate to host the women's championship in 2029, positioning Uzbekistan to become the first Central Asian country to host the event. Kanya Kyumani, Chair of the Women's Football Committee at the Asian Football Confederation, stated in a press release: "In 2029, we will have the opportunity to achieve our ambitions of developing and expanding women's football across the continent." The official also remarked, "The Women's World Cup that Australia co-hosted last year opened new horizons and is widely regarded as the best edition ever held."
