The General Directorate of State Security announced the arrest of (A. S.) after confirming his involvement in the harassment of children, noting that he is currently under investigation by the competent judiciary. According to the General Directorate of State Security, the accused owns a commercial establishment in Beirut and lures children into his business, sometimes to his home, where he harasses them by offering material and physical temptations. He was monitored by the Service and Information Division within State Security, arrested, and taken to the directorate, where he was confronted with children he had assaulted in the presence of a representative from the juvenile institution. (A. S.) was then handed over to the competent judiciary for legal proceedings against him.
A source in State Security clarified that strict instructions were issued by General Sleiba regarding this issue, as incidents of harassment and rape have been increasing in Lebanon recently for various reasons, including moral laxity and a deviation from the values traditionally upheld by Lebanese people, as well as a lack of serious awareness in schools and universities to encourage young people to be cautious and protect themselves from harassers. The source addressed a message to parents, urging them to be vigilant about their sons and daughters, to openly communicate with them, and to warn them against anyone who tries to touch them or invites them to secluded places, and to encourage children to inform their parents about any incidents, as the consequences of negligence are very negative for every child or adolescent.
