Twenty-five people in a village in Minya Governorate, Upper Egypt, were poisoned today, Thursday, after consuming a spoiled breakfast meal consisting of falafel and fava beans. The victims were taken to the central hospital for necessary treatment, and a report was filed regarding the incident, notifying the public prosecutor to initiate an investigation.
The situation began when security authorities in Minya received a notification from the hospital, confirming that 25 individuals had suffered from food poisoning due to the breakfast meal. The security forces are conducting their investigations into the incident to determine whether there are any criminal suspicions involved.
Upon medical examination, it was found that the victims showed signs of suspected poisoning, suffering from vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach nausea. They were treated, and some underwent stomach washout, with a decision made for a few to be discharged. A report on the incident was filed, and the public prosecutor was informed for further investigation into the source of the food consumed by the victims from a restaurant, according to local media reports.
