The Israeli army announced on Wednesday the discovery of a tunnel used by Hamas to hold hostages in Khan Younis. The army stated in a report: "Soldiers from the Yahalom unit and another special forces unit carried out a raid on an additional strategic underground tunnel, one kilometer long, in Khan Younis, which was used to hide senior members of the terrorist organization Hamas and hold hostages. The forces fought in the tunnel against terrorists, breached metal doors, and neutralized explosives."
The report continued: "During the search operations in the tunnel, several rooms were discovered, including a forbidden cell where hostages were kept, a bathroom, and a resting area used by the terrorists holding the hostages."
Additionally, the report stated: "Moreover, intelligence materials and weapons belonging to the terrorist organization Hamas were found in the tunnel. This tunnel housed approximately 12 hostages at different times. Three of them have been returned to Israel, while the remaining ones are still held in Gaza."
