Today, Saturday, the staff of the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources in Samarra started discharging the flood wave coming from northern cities and northern Salah al-Din through the Samarra Dam towards Baghdad and the southern governorates. The General Director of Iraq's Dams met with an emergency cell of the ministry's advanced team in Samarra to organize the mechanism for discharging the flood wave.
The Salah al-Din Water Resources Directorate warned of a potential flood wave that could impact both sides of the Tigris River after the discharge from the Samarra Dam and emphasized the necessity for caution and preparedness. The flood wave will be discharged at a rate of 2,500 cubic meters per second for 72 hours, which, according to a numerical analysis conducted by Alsumaria News, amounts to approximately 650 million cubic meters heading towards Baghdad and the south over that period.
