A small number of anti-Islam activists set fire to copies of the Qur'an today, Tuesday, in front of the Egyptian and Turkish embassies in Copenhagen. This marks the third such incident in Denmark in less than a week, following instances of Qur'an burning in neighboring Sweden that have sparked outrage among Muslims. The demonstration, organized by a group called "Danish Patriots," follows their burning of Qur'ans yesterday and the week prior in front of the Iraqi embassy. Turkey strongly condemned what it described as a "despicable attack" on the Qur'an and urged Denmark to take necessary measures to prevent this "hate crime" against Islam. Additionally, Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid noted today that "Egypt summoned the acting charge d'affaires of the Swedish embassy due to the repeated offenses against the Qur'an." He stated that Egypt's strong condemnation and complete rejection - both from the government and the people - of the unfortunate and repeated incidents of burning and disrespecting copies of the Holy Qur'an in Sweden were communicated.
