Iraq: The Killer of Al-Shami Will Not Escape Legal Accountability

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior confirmed in a statement today, Friday, that the killer of the Director of Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism in Dhi Qar, Brigadier Azeez Shlal Al-Shami, "will not escape legal accountability." The statement noted that "the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier Muqdad Meiri, accompanied by the Police Chief of Dhi Qar, Major General Maki Shna'a Al-Khaykani, and their accompanying delegation, visited the family of the martyr, the heroic Brigadier Azeez Shlal Al-Shami, who was martyred while on duty in Al-Issaf district to resolve a tribal dispute." The statement added that "the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior conveyed the minister's greetings and condolences to his family and loved ones," emphasizing that "the martyr is a pride of the ministry, and the perpetrators will not escape legal accountability, and we have reached good investigative results."
