Germany is hosting two days of peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia, five months after Azerbaijan took control of the predominantly Armenian region of Nagorno-Karabakh, leading to a mass exodus of its residents. The German Foreign Ministry is hosting the talks. Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will meet separately with her counterparts from Armenia and Azerbaijan on Wednesday before hosting a trilateral meeting. The minister is expected to issue a statement around 13:30 (12:30 GMT). Baerbock visited both countries in November, while German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference this month. In December, the two countries issued a joint statement indicating their desire to reach a peace agreement.
