In a sermon during Sunday Mass in Bkerke, Maronite Patriarch Bechara al-Rahi called for "justice" alongside the mothers of the victims of the August 4 explosion, emphasizing that "no cause dies behind demands." He expressed regret over the politicians' handling of the judiciary even to the point of obstruction. Regarding the political situation in the country, al-Rahi pointed out that "the core of our political crisis is the violation of the constitution, which is sacred worldwide and must not be touched," highlighting that "the constitution is the pride of nations and a refuge for citizens." He questioned, "How can the constitution be violated and a president not elected?" stressing that electing a president would restore trust in Lebanon and its institutions.
