Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman affirmed today, Tuesday, that Saudi Arabia demands the initiation of a serious and comprehensive peace process to resolve the Palestinian issue. This statement was made during his speech at the virtual BRICS summit, which included invited countries to discuss the situation in Gaza.
The Crown Prince stated, "The BRICS summit is convening at a challenging time for the Gaza Strip," adding, "We reiterate our firm rejection of Israeli operations in Gaza." He called for the immediate provision of aid to Gaza and urged all nations to cease arms exports to Israel.
He emphasized that Gaza is witnessing "barbaric crimes" against civilians, innocents, healthcare facilities, and places of worship, which necessitates a collective effort "to stop this humanitarian catastrophe." He called for "collective efforts to halt the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza," stressing "the necessity of providing humanitarian corridors in Gaza."
He stated, "The Kingdom's steadfast and firm position is that there is no way to achieve security and stability in Palestine except through decisions related to the two-state solution, allowing the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights and establish a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders." He also emphasized the kingdom's rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
Participating in the virtual BRICS summit today were leaders from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, China, Russia, Brazil, India, South Africa, Argentina, Ethiopia, Iran, in addition to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
