Libyan Charity Organization Fears Drowning of 60 Migrants

The officials of the charity rescue organization SOS Mediterranee stated today, Thursday, that "it is suspected that up to 60 people have drowned who were on a vessel carrying migrants from Libya across the Mediterranean Sea." The organization announced that "yesterday, Wednesday, 25 individuals were rescued who were in a state of 'severe weakness' in coordination with the Italian Coast Guard, and two unconscious people were transported to Sicily by helicopter." The organization added, "Their engine failed after three days, leading to the loss of their boat and drifting aimlessly without water or food for several days. Survivors reported the deaths of at least 60 people on the journey, including women and at least one child."
