The World Health Organization announced today, Tuesday, that it has completed a second evacuation mission from Nasser Hospital in the Gaza Strip, bringing the total number of critically ill patients transferred to 32, including children, amidst ongoing combat operations. The organization stated that "efforts are ongoing to transfer the remaining patients."
The WHO expressed concern through "X" for the safety and well-being of the patients and medical staff remaining in the hospital, warning that further disruption to care aimed at saving the lives of patients and the injured will lead to more fatalities.
WHO staff reported that the destruction around the hospital is "indescribable" and expressed concern for nearly 130 patients and injured individuals, along with 15 medical staff members who are still inside. The UN-affiliated organization noted that Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, the second largest hospital in Gaza, ceased operations last week after a week-long siege followed by an Israeli raid.
