Warning: Do Not Swim in These Areas

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces has warned citizens and beachgoers about the risk of drowning in the following situations: "taking selfies, swimming in hazardous places, such as: Ramlet el-Baydah due to the existence of water-filled pits in the sea and currents from sewage discharge, the Seven Pillars area in Manara because some individuals are jumping from there. The Beirut seaside - the Biel/Corniche due to the presence of caissons (foundations made of reinforced concrete or iron) along the seaside pier interspersed with 'sharouq' openings, and Raouche - Dahiye due to the rocky nature of the land where Raouche Rock exists and some beachgoers are jumping from the top of the rock."

The directorate added: "Therefore, we request citizens, especially beachgoers, to adhere to public safety guidelines and not to swim in areas deemed dangerous in terms of their location or sea conditions (rough or calm), and not to risk their lives for the sake of taking pictures from elevated or unsafe places."

It continued: "Additionally, the General Directorate requests citizens, upon witnessing similar dangerous acts, not to hesitate to report them by calling the emergency number /112/."
