Why We Shouldn't Give Up Bread

Nutrition expert Dr. Natalia Denisova, a senior researcher at the Federal Research Center for Nutrition and Biotechnical Technologies, warned against completely excluding bread from the diet as it negatively impacts health. In a conversation with aif.ru, she noted that "giving up bread will lead to decreased performance and mental activity, and increased fatigue due to a lack of vitamin B1. Additionally, there could be a deficiency in vitamin PP, which is essential for the brain, as well as vitamin B12, which is necessary for vision."

The doctor warns that giving up bread results in a folic acid deficiency, leading to weakened immunity, and due to a lack of dietary fiber, the digestive system's functioning may be disrupted. She points out that moderate consumption of bread contributes to improved digestive health. The expert recommends eating rye bread, which provides the body with more than a third of its daily needs for vitamins B1 and E, magnesium, and phosphorus, and contains a significant amount of iron, meeting 78% of the body's daily requirement for this mineral. The presence of folic acid helps with the proper absorption of this mineral. Additionally, it is rich in vitamin B2, PP, and calcium.
