Launch of the 22nd Amman International Book Fair

The 22nd Amman International Book Fair launched today, Thursday, with the participation of 400 local, Arab, and foreign publishing houses directly and by proxy at the Amman International Motor Show Hall on the Airport Road. Qatar is the guest of honor at the fair, which is organized by the Jordanian Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Jordanian Publishers Association and the Greater Amman Municipality, featuring participation from 22 countries, and will run until September 30th.

This year, the fair honors the Jordanian researcher and historian Hind Abu Shaar, who has been named the "Cultural Personality of the Fair" in recognition of her contributions to historical studies, particularly modern and contemporary Jordan.

Jordanian Minister of Culture Haifa Najjar stated at the inauguration, "The fair represents a platform for dialogue and communication with ideas, offering activities suitable for Jordanian families, school and university students, cultural institutions, and visitors to Jordan. It is an opportunity to engage with the cultural program that has designated space for children this year."

The fair hosts a number of Arab writers, poets, and researchers, including Algerian novelist Waciny Laredj, Iraqi poet Ali Jafar Al-‘Alaq, Omani novelist Zahraan Al-Qasimi, Moroccan researcher Said Yaqteen, Saudi writer Raed Al-Eid, and Palestinian writer Abdul Salam Al-‘Attari.

Additionally, the fair focuses on technological development and digitization through several cultural events, including a seminar titled "The Reality of Arabic Narration in the Digital Space: Questions and Challenges," a seminar on "Transformations in Children's Writing in the Digital Age," and a lecture called "Our Children and Electronic Devices."
