Singapore Faces One of Its Biggest Corruption Scandals

The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau in Singapore announced today, Monday, that it has filed 8 additional charges against former Transport Minister S. Iswaran, in one of the biggest corruption scandals in the country, bringing the total number of charges against him to 35. The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau stated that the additional charges involve allegations that he received valuable items worth approximately SGD 18,956 (USD 14,077) while he was Minister from a person whose company had dealings with the Ministry of Transport. Despite his denial of the charges, Iswaran (61 years old) now faces a total of 35 charges in a case that has captivated public attention in Singapore.
