Dow Jones Index Closes Higher

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed higher today, Monday, achieving its longest winning streak in six years as investors bet on sectors beyond technology in a week that will see the announcement of more company results and a meeting of the Federal Reserve (U.S. central bank). Investors are awaiting earnings reports from Microsoft, Alphabet (Google's parent company), and Meta Platforms this week. The U.S. central bank is expected to raise interest rates by 25 basis points in its upcoming meeting on Wednesday. According to preliminary data, the S&P 500 rose by 18.72 points or 0.41 percent to close at 4555.06 points, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 26.06 points or 0.19 percent to close at 14058.87 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 187.11 points or 0.53 percent to close at 35414.80 points.
