Libya's Mufti, Sheikh Sadik al-Ghariani, expressed that "spending money to perform Umrah multiple times is a waste of funds that should instead be given to the people of Gaza and to support Palestinian resistance." He emphasized that "supporting the people of Gaza takes priority." The Sheikh criticized the rush to repeat trips for Umrah while people in Gaza are dying of hunger, calling it negligence and an incorrect action.
In a video shared on the platform X (formerly Twitter), the Mufti asserted that "Muslims should not think that rushing to perform Umrah is the highest form of worship when the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip face extermination, as this represents negligence and incorrect behavior," according to his statement.
Furthermore, the Mufti condemned what he described as the "patronage of foreign restaurants that support the Israeli occupation," pointing out that "the money spent there goes towards killing and starving Gazans." He concluded by stating: "Providing relief to the people of Gaza does not require caravans and borders; it requires a ceasefire."
