U.S. President Joe Biden welcomed the implementation of the humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and the exchange deal between Israel and Hamas. During a press conference from Nantucket, Massachusetts, on Friday, Biden stated, "The ceasefire in Gaza is going well." He also confirmed that "the deal between Israel and Hamas is just the beginning," adding, "We expect more hostages to be released from Gaza on Saturday." Additionally, he emphasized that "the ceasefire is an opportunity to deliver more aid to the Gaza Strip." Biden mentioned that he pressed for the implementation of both the deal and the ceasefire in Gaza. He noted that there is a chance to extend the ceasefire in the region, adding that he will remain in contact with "leaders from Egypt, Qatar, and Israel to implement further ceasefires."
