An Israeli army spokesperson, Admiral Daniel Hagari, stated today, Sunday, that "the army has completed an initial review regarding the civilian casualties during the aid distribution in Gaza last week," concluding that the forces did not target the aid convoy and that most Palestinians died due to stampedes. He added that the review, which collected information from commanders and troops in the field, found that no strikes were directed at the aid convoy. Hagari mentioned, "Most Palestinians were killed or injured as a result of the stampede," and continued that, "after warning shots were fired to disperse the stampede and as our forces began to withdraw, a number of militants approached our troops and posed a direct threat to them. According to the initial review, soldiers responded to several individuals."
