The Jordan national team achieved a remarkable result in its opening match of the 2023 Asian Cup, defeating Malaysia 4-0. This result is the largest for Jordan in the tournament so far, under the guidance of Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta, placing them at the top of Group E alongside South Korea, which won against Bahrain 3-1 in the first match.
Jordan took the lead with a stunning first goal in the 12th minute by Mahmoud Al-Mardhi, who sent a curled shot into the far post that found the net. Montpellier's star, Musa Al-Tamari, added the second goal from a penalty in the 18th minute. Al-Mardhi scored his second goal in the match, and the third for Jordan, in the 32nd minute, finishing off a superb team play into Malaysia's net. Al-Tamari also scored a second goal in the match, which was the fourth for Jordan, in a splendid manner in the 86th minute, ending the match with a score of 4-0.
