A phone call took place between Sheikh Sami Abi Al-Muna, the spiritual leader of the Druze community, and Sheikh Hikmat Al-Hijri, the spiritual president of the community in Syria. During the conversation, Al-Hijri emphasized the importance of "the peaceful nature of the movement and that the state is obligated to secure the rights of the people and the deprived areas, and that the youth uprising has the right to express their rejection of policies of humiliation and neglect." He pointed out that "the honorable sheikhs and the community in general do not accept the occupation of their country, regardless of the type of occupation, and they will not tolerate turning Sweida into a center of corruption and deviation from moral and social law."
Furthermore, Sheikh Abi Al-Muna expressed "full confidence in the wisdom of Sheikh Al-Hijri and the wise sheikhs of Jabal Al-Arab, as well as his well-known national figures and honorable men," reiterating "the pride of their brothers in Lebanon in their courage and firm national stances." He warned against "attempts to humiliate and betray them, as they are the authentic Arabs, the sons of the glorious Sultan, the nationalists par excellence, and the true Arabs, who have been and still are leaders of opinion and action for the independence of Syria, its unity, and the dignity of its people, and they are the strong men who have always been patriotic and united."
In conclusion, Sheikh Abi Al-Muna and Sheikh Al-Hijri stressed the "necessity of keeping the movement peaceful, so it can serve as a higher model of nationalism and respect for dignity while rising above insults for the good of the mountain and the nation."
