Operation by the International Theft Crimes Bureau: Details Revealed

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division stated that recently, there has been an increase in car thefts, particularly older models, in the Mount Lebanon Governorate, especially Honda, Toyota, Datsun, and Hyundai vehicles. On October 3, 2023, the International Theft Crimes Bureau managed to locate a member of the gang in Shweifat riding a stolen Honda vehicle, identified as A.S. (born in 1996, Palestinian).

During his arrest attempt, he attempted to run over the officers and fled, prompting one officer to fire at the car's tires to prevent his escape. However, he continued to flee and left the vehicle on a side street in Shweifat. Following investigations and inquiries, the bureau's members successfully arrested him in a targeted operation on the Assad Highway behind the Ansar Stadium.

In the investigation, he confessed to stealing seven older model cars, including Honda, Toyota, Datsun, Nissan, and BMW. After he disclosed their hiding places, the vehicles were recovered. The cars were returned to their owners, and legal actions were taken against the arrested individual based on the relevant judicial authority's directives, with efforts ongoing to apprehend other gang members.
