Israeli Call to Occupy Southern Lebanon

Former Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman urged Israel to establish security control over northern Gaza Strip and to create a security strip at least one kilometer deep within the territory of the Strip. In a post on the “X” platform titled "The Day After," Lieberman also called for the occupation of southern Lebanon and for the Israeli army to position itself along the Litani River. He urged the destruction of the Philadelphi route on the border with Egypt, estimating a scenario in which about 1.5 million inhabitants of the Gaza Strip might voluntarily move towards Sinai. He described this as "a necessary outcome following the war" on Gaza. Lieberman stated in his post that "any settlement regarding the day after must include a clear message of not messing with us," directed at Hamas and Hezbollah, indicating that their loss of territory is the heavy price they must pay.
