Former president of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, mentioned today, during a meeting with the party's internal agency in Aley, that "the war that erupted in Gaza, as well as the aggression on the south, is ongoing and may last more than a year. We are working with Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri, Secretary-General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah, and others loyal to the country to avoid an escalation of the war. If the worst happens, as in 2006, we are prepared to welcome our people." Jumblatt added, "We succeeded in extending the term of the army commander, and we hope that a chief of staff will be appointed in the near future."
