Istanbul Airport recorded a historic number of flights yesterday coinciding with the Champions League final hosted in the city. The Turkish General Directorate of Civil Aviation stated on Twitter that Istanbul Airport witnessed 1,594 flights, including arrivals and departures, on Saturday. They added that this number is a record since the airport began operations in late 2018. They noted that the intensity of the flights was directly affected by the Champions League final, which featured England's Manchester City and Italy's Inter Milan. Istanbul Airport received aircraft from various countries around the world.
