Britain: Cancellation of 70 Flights Due to Strong Winds

The British ITV channel announced that "around 70 flights in Britain have been canceled due to the strong winds caused by Storm Kathleen." The channel noted that "about 70 scheduled flights arriving at and departing from British airports were canceled before noon on Saturday, as the Met Office issued a yellow warning for strong winds." The warning covers the northwest and southwest of Britain, as well as parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, from 8 AM to 10 PM. According to the Met Office, another yellow wind warning has been issued for northwest Scotland for Sunday between 9 AM and 3 PM, with winds expected to reach speeds of up to 70 miles per hour again. Temperatures could reach 22 degrees Celsius in East Anglia on Saturday with warm air coming from the continent.
