The American website Axios reported that a coalition of progressive groups in the United States has announced its intention to mobilize resources to combat the plans of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which is considered the largest pro-Israel lobby. AIPAC aims to spend $100 million to support campaigns against lawmakers who criticize Israel. The committee faces an organized pro-Palestine movement in the Democratic Party's primary elections, which are the most intense and closely monitored in the United States.
The "Reject AIPAC" coalition consists of 25 American leftist groups, including the Working Families Party, Justice Democrats, Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), and Our Revolution. The coalition states in a press release that it plans to launch an "electoral defense campaign" that will cost millions of dollars to defend progressive congressional members targeted by AIPAC.
