U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib, the first Palestinian-American woman in Congress, accused President Joe Biden of supporting the "genocide" of Palestinians, warning of the consequences in the upcoming elections. Tlaib, the Democratic representative from Michigan, renewed her calls for Biden to support a ceasefire in the nearly month-long conflict between Israel and Hamas. This was expressed in a video posted on the social media platform X late Friday evening.
In the recording, which featured images of casualties from the bombing in Gaza, pro-Palestinian protests across the United States, and Biden's declarations of support for Israel while thanking Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Tlaib stated, "Joe Biden has supported the genocide of the Palestinian people." She added, "The American people will not forget. Support a ceasefire now, Biden, or don’t count on us in 2024… Mr. President, the American people are not with you on this. We will remember this in 2024."
